What Do We Want Out of Our Online World in 2022? Damonaz Design

It is time to decide. After all, 2020 was the year we were all cordoned off and everything became online based. Many of those who normally went into an office became work from home. Businesses began offering delivery on everything and anything imaginable, you barely need to leave your own home. It seemed agoraphobia was now chic.

Because online became our way of life and our main way of socializing during COVID we all started to wonder just how much connectedness was healthy. This was truly changing how people thought and behaved.

Do we want this disconnected yet ramped up level of connectivity to be truly our “new normal”?

The level at which we are all online has skyrocketed in 2020 and 2021 but it was headed there anyway in all honesty. Consider the fact that Facebook only truly started getting popular in 2008. That is only 13 years ago.

Just a little over a decade ago social media was in its infancy.

Prior to 2006 there were no touch screen smart phones. While cell phones were still becoming popular texting hadn’t become the norm and apps didn’t exist. It took several years for the hype to flourish and get a smart phone into everybody’s hot little hands – man, woman, and child. To give you a more accurate idea – by 2008 only 22% of the population had a smart phone. By 2014 that number had escalated to 63% and today in 2021 that number is nearly 90%.

We have now been thrust into the beginning of creating a new society in which our lives are lived online as much as face-to-face.

This is the year for us to start making choices about what we want that society to look like.

Here are some important choices for you to consider. These choices that will determine the quality of your life online as well as of your relationships offline:

What am I choosing to spend my time doing online?
The fast pace of our online lives intensifies the need for clarity about both our personal and professional goals. The Internet tosses us so many tasks, distractions, and opportunities our way that it’s easy to get off track. If you’re clear about what you want the internet to do for you — the kinds of relationships you want to build, the conversations you want to have, the ideas you want to express — your time online can support and sharpen your vision for a fulfilling life.

Make 2022 the year in which the web becomes a useful means of pursuing your personal and professional priorities, rather than just a giant time waster.

Who am I choosing to be online?
Anyone who has played video games understands the concept of an avatar. You get to create and decide exactly who and what you will be. The fact remains that if you ever intend to merge real life with online, it’s a good idea to be who you really are. If that version of yourself isn’t in your mind up to par, its time to get going on the self-motivation and create the you that you have always wanted to be – real time.

Professional and in Business is my branding on track? When many people go into business, they get excited and randomly start setting up accounts. They may not have had all their ducks in a row yet at that point. Correct logos, tag lines, company images, ads, and more. This ends up leaving a trail that isn’t so professional looking. It may pop up from time to time. It’s a good idea to go back and clean up your image now and again.

Google yourself or your business and see what needs to be removed. If you need help solidifying a brand or marketing, just ask us. We would love to help.

Do my online pages and websites accurately represent myself and my business?

And – are they mobile friendly. Statistics show that 56% of all users access the internet by way of a mobile device. That means if your website was built more than just a few years ago chances are it is not optimized correctly. It will pull up disjointed and possibly non-working on some parts or menu choices. It can lead to visitors simply closing your site and finding one that works. It’s a very easy way to lose business.

We can help! Damonaz Design can build you a new site or optimize and reconfigure your old one. Its time to put your best foot forward in 2022.

What we see and recommend as professionals in the industry – Balance is key.

Hone your online presence. Delete all that is old, unnecessary, or no longer working. Add in key items that are new, fresh, and updated. Revamp. Make your site content and offerings work for you. Work smarter not harder and spend more of your time in the real world.

Be picky about what message your website sends and how it functions. The more user friendly and attractive, the more people will stay and explore.

Simplification is the buzzword for 2022.
